    CONCAT function playground

Joins text from several cells or values into one piece of text.

Available in: Excel 2019 and later, Microsoft 365 (older: CONCATENATE)Read the full tutorial →

The playground runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

    How CONCAT works

CONCAT sticks the pieces together in order, with nothing in between. Add spaces or punctuation yourself as text in quotes, such as " " or ", ".

CONCAT also accepts ranges, unlike the older CONCATENATE. The & operator does the same job: =B2&" "&C2.

    Syntax

    =CONCAT(text1, [text2], ...)
    ArgumentWhat it means
text1requiredThe first text, cell or range to join.
text2, ...optionalMore text, cells or ranges.
